About BayPA

Built by practitioners, for practitioners.

For nearly a decade, BayPA has been the place where people analytics professionals in the Bay Area come together to learn, connect, and shape the field.

Our story

How BayPA came to be

BayPA was founded in 2017 as a space for people analytics professionals in the Bay Area to connect with peers who understand the work. What started as a small gathering quickly grew into a community of practitioners across industries and experience levels.

In 2018, Annika Schultz and Ben Teusch assumed co-leadership, expanding the programming and growing the community. Mariah Norell joined the leadership team in 2023, and Shuang Yueh Pui in 2025, bringing new energy and expertise that shaped BayPA into the multi-program organization it is today.

In 2026, we evolved from BAPAM (Bay Area People Analytics Meetup) to BayPA, a name and structure that better reflects where we're headed. Same community. Deeper programming. Still free.

Today, BayPA is led by practitioners committed to keeping this community accessible, practitioner-driven, and useful for everyone working at the intersection of data and people in the Bay Area.

Our mission

Why we exist

We connect people analytics professionals in the Bay Area to learn, grow, and solve challenges together.

Our values

What we stand for

Our values aren't aspirational. They're how we make decisions about what BayPA is and isn't.

Value 01
Inclusivity
Every BayPA event is free. We design programming for all career stages, from students exploring the field to senior leaders shaping it. Nobody should feel like this community isn't for them.
Value 02
Practitioner-Led
The people running BayPA are people analytics practitioners. Our programming reflects what's actually useful in practice, not what makes for a good pitch deck.
Value 03
Community-Driven
BayPA exists because the community shows up. Volunteer-run, peer-supported, and shaped by member feedback at every turn.
Value 04
Actionable
Theory is fine. Practical application is better. We focus on insights, tools, and approaches that members can take back to their teams Monday morning.
Leadership

The team behind BayPA

BayPA is run entirely by volunteers who do this work alongside their day jobs because they believe in what this community offers.
