FAQ
Common questions
Is BayPA really free?
Yes. Every BayPA event has always been free to attend, and that's not changing. To keep it that way as we grow, we're exploring ways to accept donations from members and organizations who want to support the community. No member ever pays to attend.
Do I need to work in people analytics to join?
No. Members range from students exploring the field to senior practitioners running large teams. If you're interested in how data, analytics, and human behavior intersect in the workplace, you'll find something useful here.
How often does BayPA hold events?
It varies by program. Signature events aim for quarterly. Rising programming follows the academic year and varies based on university partnerships. Showcase events happen as vendor partnerships are confirmed, typically two to four times a year.
Are events recorded?
Generally no. Speakers often share more openly when they know they're talking to the room, not to the internet. We sometimes share slides afterward when speakers are comfortable doing so.
Can my company sponsor or get involved?
Depends on what you're hoping for. If you build tools for people analytics teams and want to demo to practitioners, the Showcase program is your fit. If you have office space and want to host an event, we'd love to talk. If you're hoping for product placement at Signature events, that's not something we do.
I used to attend BAPAM. Is this the same group?
Yes. BAPAM (Bay Area People Analytics Meetup) was the original name from 2017 to 2025. We relaunched as BayPA in 2026 with a refreshed brand and expanded programming. Same community, same values, evolved structure.
